Shingles

A few years ago, the Dane County Landfill began to experience the problems that disposal of asphalt shingles cause in the function of a landfill. The asphalt shingle has since been banned from the landfill.                                       Testing began for reuse of processed asphalt shingle material, such as a cold mix product used for patching golf car paths, dust control over gravel, and the successful incorporation of the processed shingle material into hot mix asphalt to be reused in new road and parking lot construction.                                                    In January of 2009, the State of Wisconsin approved recycled shingle for use on state highways. In May of 2009, 2nd Season has shipped over 8000 tons of recycled shingle for re-use in hot mix asphalt around the state.
